Day 4 - 912 kms. Tocomwul to Lightening Ridge

Up with the sparrows this morning as we begin our journey to Lightening Ridge. We're kinda back on route after a marathon journey between Tocomwul and Lightening Ridge. Day 4 was all about getting some kms logged and getting north.

During the car travel we consumed 6 bags of trail mix, read Roald Dahl's "The Twits" and "The Magic Finger", two "Fly Guy" books and sang American Pie three times. We talked about Ingo Renner and our gliding experience for yonks. Ingo has become our new hero. While researching him, we discovered Ingo has held every gliding record in Australia, has logged 37,000 hours gliding, holds an Order of Australia medal and was inducted in the Australian Sporting Hall of Fame. He once surprised his wife by taking her on an 8 hour non stop flight to Adelaide - 8 hours... no bathroom. I don't think she was as impressed as we were. We'll never forget Ingo, he's one of a kind, a master of the skies and above all an all round bloody legend.

So now its Lightening Ridge, 37 degrees forecast for today and time to get digging in the dirt as we search for opals... not sure this one will be my cup of tea, but at least our accommodation has a pool to cool off in later today.

Here's our route so far and some road pics from day 4:
